Who we are

Crahift is a bicycle repair and custom build workshop in Marlow Fields, trading since 2020. Contact is by email at hello@crahift.com.

Quotes and prices

Prices shown on the services page are for our labour. Parts are charged separately at what they cost us.

When you book, we give you an estimate based on what you have told us. Once the bike is in the stand we confirm it. An estimate given before we have seen the bike is exactly that, and the confirmed figure is the one that counts.

If the work turns out to need more than the confirmed figure, we will contact you and wait for your agreement before continuing. We will not exceed an agreed figure without asking.

Quotes are valid for thirty days. Parts prices move, and after a month we may need to re quote.

Booking and cancellation

No deposit is taken for repairs and servicing. You can cancel a booking at any time before you drop the bike off at no cost.

Custom builds are different because we buy parts specifically for your bike. The parts cost is payable once you agree the written spec, and labour on completion. If you cancel after parts have been ordered, we will return anything the supplier will take back and charge you for anything they will not, at cost.

Parts you supply

We are happy to fit parts you have bought elsewhere, at the same labour rate as our own.

We cannot warrant a part we did not supply. If a customer supplied part turns out to be the wrong size or standard, we will charge for the time spent establishing that, and we will tell you as soon as we know.

We will not fit used brake pads, cables, chains or helmets, or any used carbon component with an unknown history, on safety grounds.

Warranty on our work

We warrant our labour for three months from collection. If something we adjusted or fitted goes out of adjustment in that time, bring it back and we will put it right at no charge.

This does not cover normal wear, damage, crashes, kerb and pothole impacts, or a bike being knocked over. It does not cover a part failing, which is a matter for the part's own warranty. Where we supplied the part we will handle that claim on your behalf.

Hand built wheels include a free re true at six weeks. A new wheel settling is expected and is not a fault.

Work we decline

We will not carry out work we believe leaves a bike unsafe to ride. That includes building a bike with a single brake, repairing around a cracked or bent frame or fork, and fitting new parts to a rim that is worn through at the braking surface.

If we find something like this we will stop, show you, and refund anything already paid for work not done.

Collection and storage

We hold finished bikes free for seven days from the day we tell you it is ready.

After thirty days without collection or contact, we may charge a reasonable storage fee. After six months, and only after written notice to the email address you gave us, we may sell the bike to recover what is owed, returning any surplus to you. This is a last resort and has never happened.

If you cannot collect for a genuine reason, tell us and we will work around it.

Payment

Payment is due on collection, by card, bank transfer or cash. Bikes are not released before payment.

Liability

We carry the insurance a workshop of this size is expected to carry.

Our liability for any single job is limited to the cost of putting the work right, or the amount you paid for it, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect losses such as missed events, travel costs or time off work.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected by anything written here.

Complaints

Email hello@crahift.com and one of the two of us will reply. There is no complaints department, there are two mechanics, and we would much rather fix a problem than have you tell people about it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
